Driving Political Engagement via Employee Education

In the fall of 2017, this client's business was thriving, but they knew they had a political engagement problem and were finding it harder and harder to engage associates, coordinate their public affairs operations and compete effectively in the unique, complicated political arenas within the states they served.

During the following two-year resident consulting partnership, we worked to audit the program's operational structure and established a formal leadership framework, including updating the Board's bylaws. Additionally, we coordinated cross-functional partnerships with the company's state-level lobbying shops to revolutionize the program's operational processes and technology partnerships, modernizing their compliance operations, increasing transparency, driving employee education, and amplifying legislative and regulatory impacts across the country.

RESULTS

  • Establishment of a trusted brand identity via consistent, authentic communications with state-by-state micro-targeting of messaging to personalize the membership experience.

  • Unification of state-level legislative engagement, compliance & political contributions to increase lobbying continuity and amplify public affairs messaging impacts.

  • Featuring a new logo, new mission statement, reintroduction of purpose to the Board of Directors and leadership council, and cohesive brand materials.

  • Knowledge fairs hosted in-person, nationwide to educate associates & foster relationships with membership.

  • An annual campaign where associates were educated on the company's top issues before participating in coordinated state capitol visits to make their voices heard on the issues affecting their work & communities.
