Background

The Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation (RCLF) is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage and lands of the Ramapough people and faces a significant challenge in reaching and engaging a broader audience. Their mission, rich in history and significance, was not being effectively communicated due to an outdated and non-responsive web presence. They partnered with Grandstand Graphics with the goal of revitalizing their digital landscape to amplify their engagement.

  • The primary goal was to create a digital platform that not only beautifully narrated the foundation's story but also facilitated community engagement, education, and fundraising efforts. The website needed to be modern, accessible, and reflective of the Ramapough's cultural heritage, with a strong emphasis on user experience (UX) to drive interaction and support.

  • During the Discovery & Strategy phase for the Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation's website redesign, our approach was rooted in meticulous research and collaborative planning. This critical stage set the groundwork for a digital transformation that would not only respect and reflect the foundation's cultural heritage but also optimize their online presence for greater reach and engagement.

  • After establishing goals and our deesign strategy, we launched into an extensive research process, aimed at fully immersing ourselves in the foundation's history, values, and objectives.

We reviewed interviews with key stakeholders, including community leaders, historians, and foundation members, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Ramapough people's rich cultural legacy, challenges, and goals. This was supplemented by an analysis of existing digital assets and data to identify gaps and opportunities in their current web presence. Our team also engaged in competitive benchmarking, examining how similar organizations structured their online narratives and community outreach efforts.

  • Armed with insights from our research, we embarked on developing a new information architecture designed to streamline the user experience and enhance content discoverability. The new architecture was centered around user-centric design principles, ensuring that visitors could easily navigate the site and access information relevant to their interests and needs.

Key components of the new architecture included:

    • Intuitive Navigation: Simplified menus and clear, descriptive labels made it easier for users to explore the foundation's projects, history, and community initiatives.

    • Engagement Pathways: Strategically placed calls-to-action (CTAs) were introduced to guide users toward key interactions, such as donations, event registrations, and educational resources.

    • Storytelling Portals: Dedicated sections for storytelling were created to house multimedia content that showcases the RCLF’s stories.

    • Resource Hubs: Centralized resources for educators, researchers, and community members provided easy access to educational materials, research papers, and cultural documentation.

    • Accessibility Enhancements: The architecture incorporated best practices in accessibility, ensuring that the site was usable and welcoming to all users, regardless of their physical or technological capabilities.

The revamped information architecture laid a solid foundation for a website that was not only a repository of the Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation's rich heritage but also a vibrant platform for community engagement and support. Through this phase, we ensured that the redesigned website would serve as an effective tool in the foundation's mission to preserve and promote their culture, facilitating a stronger connection with both the Ramapough community and the broader public.

  • Leveraging cutting-edge web technologies and accessible design principles, we crafted a custom web solution tailored to the foundation's needs. Our approach was holistic, considering every aspect, from navigation to content, ensuring the site was both visually compelling and easy to use across all devices.

  • The launch of the new website marked a significant milestone for the Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation. Not only did it provide them with a platform to share their heritage and initiatives, but it also resulted in increased community involvement and support. The site's responsive design and intuitive UX led to higher engagement rates, more donations, and greater visibility for their cause.

  • This project exemplifies how Grandstand Graphics' Custom Web Design offering can transform an organization's digital identity. By focusing on bespoke solutions that prioritize accessibility and user engagement, we help our clients amplify their impact and connect with their audience in meaningful ways.

All-New Information Architecture

When we teamed up with the Ramapough Culture and Land Foundation, it was crucial to start with a revision to their information architecture. Basically, we needed to delve into all the things they cared about most and pull out their main initiatives so that we could refocus their communication structure to ensure that every interested site visitor could easily find their way around and quickly understand what the RCLF is all about.

We reorganized, revised, and repackaged their engagement language while designing every click and user journey to bring site visitors closer to the heart of their mission, making it super easy for folks to explore, learn, and most importantly -take action.
